Jewellery Care All my jewellery is made by hand using 925 sterling silver and 9k gold. Oxidized sterling is blackened by immersing the silver in a sulphur solution. The colour will not rub off on your skin or clothing.
Cleaning: To brighten tarnished silver, I recommend wiping the silver areas with a cotton bud dipped in a liquid silver cleaner such as Goddard’s. You can immerse the metal, but do not immerse any attached stones or pearls. After using the dip, be sure to wash the piece in warm soapy water and rinse well before drying.
Another cleaning method is to line a small bowl with a piece of aluminum foil; add a few teaspoons of baking soda and a squirt of liquid detergent into the bowl and mix with boiling water. Immerse your tarnished silver jewellery in the solution for several minutes until it looks clean. Rinse well and dry.
Never use a polishing cloth or creamy silver polish. The oxidized silver and the gold parts of your jewellery do not require cleaning. |
